Note that you will still be able to use the utility as this is purely based on IP.

If you did then this would explain the Error 306, as this protocol is not supported. I wonder if you meant LPD and that you added the print queue to the wireless printer using IP > LPD for the protocol. In your post you state " MacBook Ldp printer.". But the interface that worked on 10.5 still exists within 10.6 and for me it works fine. I upgraded to 10.6.4 with the hope that the Add Printer functionality would be smarter - just the same, no such luck!Įxpectations are an awful thing.
Canon mp640 printer driver mac pro#
I bought the MacBook Pro with Leopard and was sucessfully connecting to a shared Windows printer via LPD. Click this and this will expand the toolbar to show the icons. Within the Add Printer window, on the top right-hand corner is an oval shaped button. If you don't see any of these icons then the toolbar could be minimized. If you look at the following KB article, under the heading of "To add a printer via the Print & Fax preferences pane", you will see the Add Printer pane showing Default, Fax, IP and Windows. So to reiterate, when you open Print & Fax and select + to add a printer, the browser that appears should have several icons in its toolbar. The version 10.xx driver for OS X 10.5 and 10.6 is added by selecting the Default browser view. You cannot add this printer using any of the IP protocols and you also don't use "More Printers - Canon IJ Network" like you did with the previous driver. The Default icon (button) is in the same toolbar as the IP icon. This window has no "Default" button or "Other Printer" button - nothing! If I select the MP640 Series driver the ADD button doesn't work - can go no further.

Then the utility searches for the printer and suggests a driver - Generic PostScript. You can add a print queue if you know what to type (I leave that blank) Then you punch in the printer's IP address I find the Printer & Fax window really unintuitive - I'd almost do better at the command line.Ĭlick on the "+" and you have to select LPD (default), IPP or HP - no other options. So at this stage don't delete anything.Ģ.

This can be helpful when the driver has been installed and working and then stops - generally after a software update. Do you recommend resetting the printing system?Ĭanon support recommended deleting: BJ Printer, Canon MP640.ds, printer items in Receipts but none of their advice has resulted in any success.
